The NEXAMITE® product range for polyesters targets improved processability, mechanical properties and durability. NEXAMITE A92, NEXAMITE M021200, NEXAMITE M921001 act as chain extenders and long-chain branching agents and can be used to increase the melt strength and viscosity of polyesters to allow for demanding extrusion applications, e.g. PET foam extrusion and film blowing. Elongation and impact resistance are improved and the intrinsic viscosity of PET can be increased by >0.3 units using these products.
NEXAMITE A99 is a linear chain extender and acid scavenger which provides increased molecular weight and process stabilization during melt processing. NEXAMITE A99 is suitable for filament extrusion and can also be used in extrusion of bi-axially oriented PET film where it acts as process stabilizer and offers significant improvement of hydrolysis resistance. Also tensile and flexural strength and moduli are improved in glass fibre reinforced polyester resins. In addition, NEXAMITE products can be used for upgrade of recycled polyesters, e.g. from fibres or containers, to increase intrinsic viscosity.

The NEXAMITE® product range for modification of polyethylene is available in two different physical forms – powder and masterbatch. NEXAMITE reacts through an addition reaction activated by heat without any volatile by-products being formed. NEXAMITE improves processability by forming long chain branches which enhances the melt strength at dosage <<1%. The effect can be advantageously employed in, e.g. pipe extrusion to avoid sagging. NEXAMITE improves mechanical performance, chemical resistance and long term properties. NEXAMITE can also be used in peroxide free crosslinking of polyethylene.
Enhance process and mechanical properties with NEXAMITE® chain extenders and branching agents.
The NEXAMITE® product range for melt strength and viscosity modification of polyamides is divided into two categories; linear chain extenders and long chain branching agents. NEXAMITE A94 and A99 are linear chain extenders and provide increased molecular weight during the melt processing of the polyamide. This effect can be advantageously employed in, e.g. extrusion applications of filaments, where process stabilization and increased mechanical properties can be realized. NEXAMITE A56 and A93 act as long-chain branching agents which make them useful for, e.g. blow-molding and extrusion applications. Unwanted effects, e.g. parison sag, can be avoided and long chain branching also yields increased flexural strength and modulus with retained or increased elongation at break.
NEXAMITE A32 and A33 can be used as cross-linkers for polyamides. NEXAMITE A32 can be used alone for low molecular weight resins while it is recommended to use a combination of A32 and A33 for medium and high molecular weight resins. Addition of these products to polyamide has little or no negative effect on processability during compounding and injection molding. Effects achieved using NEXAMITE A32/A33 include increased long term heat stability >180°C, reduced moisture uptake and increased tensile strength and modulus at temperatures >Tg. NEXAMITE A32/A33 modified resins can, when combined with a post processing heat treatment stage, be used as an alternative to radiation cross-linked polyamides.

NEXIMID® crosslinking end-caps and co-monomers for formulation of polyimides.
Nexam Chemical offers a series of crosslinkers to be used in the formulation of reactive oligomers/polymers with a restricted molecular weight and latent cross-linking units. These intermediates can be easily processed and properties associated with high molecular weight structures can be reclaimed upon a curing step.
The classical high curing activation temperature associated with this technology has restricted its use to processing improvements of resins with very high thermal stability. This limitation is now addressed in our NEXIMID® portfolio, where proper structural design has resulted in a series of cross-linkers covering a broad range of activation temperatures. As a result, highly thermoplastic formulations with lower thermal stability can benefit from this technology, broadening the focus from processing improvement of polyimides to rising performance of different kind of materials.
Co-monomers for polyimides. Nexam Chemical offers two high-purity di-anhydrides suitable for polymer synthesis: NEXIMID 800 (6FDA) and NEXAMITE B02 (PMDA). In addition, NEXIMID 700 a formulation of trans-1,4-cyclohexyl diammonium acetate, is offered to address the difficult incorporation of cycloaliphatic trans-1,4-cyclohexanediamine into polyimide formulations.

Resin for high temperature applications addition curable, fully imidized.
NEXIMID® MHT-R is an addition curable, fully imidized oligoimide resin with a viscosity suitable for low cost manufacturing processes such as Resin Transfer Molding, RTM. Its low melt viscosity together with high processing window make this resin an excellent option for the out of autoclave manufacturing of low-void carbon fiber reinforced composites, allowing for high cost savings and low scrap rate. NEXIMID MHT-R has been formulated making use of NEXIMID cross-linkers and monomers specially selected to provide the resin with high glass transition and thermal stability.

NEXAMITE® M masterbatches deliver performance enhancement along the application value chain for a range of polymers. By combining NEXAMITE polymer modifiers with generic masterbatch concepts multifunctionality is created.
