Nexam Chemical has been granted funding for lightweight solutions with graphene containing NEXIMID® MHT-R

Nexam Chemical has, together with SWEREA Sicomp, been granted a total of SEK 879 thousand from Vinnova for a development project with graphene-modified composites containing NEXMID® MHT-R for long-term and high temperature applications.

The project, that will run over 21 months, will develop graphene-modified resins to improve the properties of polymer composites. The project shall facilitate weight reduction and increased use of carbon composites in demanding applications. Nexam Chemical will further develop NEXIMID® MHT-R which will be included in the new resin based on graphene.

”The development project is in line with the industry trend, i.e. replacing metal with lighter composites in the hotter zones in for example engines. We look forward to once again collaborate with SWEREA Sicomp with whom we previously have had successful projects. Our NEXIMID® MHT-R provides major property enhancements in the composites that it has been included in so far” says Dane Momcilovic CTO at Nexam Chemical.

About Nexam Chemical

Nexam Chemical develops technology and products that make it possible to significantly improve the production process and properties of most types of plastics in a cost-effective manner and with retained production technology. The improved properties include strength, toughness, temperature and chemical resistance as well as service life. The improvements in properties that can be achieved by using Nexam Chemical’s technology make it possible to replace metals and other heavier or more expensive materials with plastics in a number of applications. In applications where plastic is already used, Nexam Chemicals products can improve the manufacturing process, reducing material use and enable more environmental friendly alternatives. Example of commercial applications: pipe manufacturing, foam production and high-performance plastics.
