Nexam Chemical strengthens Board of Directors ahead of next phase of global commercialization
03/31/2026
The Nomination Committee of Nexam Chemical Holding AB (publ) proposes the election of Roland Kasper, Niclas Ekström, and Johan Lundgren as new members of the company’s Board of Directors at the upcoming Annual General Meeting. The nominations come at a stage where Nexam Chemical enters the next phase of its development – shifting from technology building to the scaling and commercialization of the company’s additive technology for upgrading recycled plastics, Reactive Recycling™, as the company establishes itself as a global commercial platform on an industrial scale.
In recent years, Nexam Chemical has established a strong position in additive technology, enabling the upgrading of recycled plastic streams into higher-performance materials. The technology is currently used in several commercial applications, and the company has achieved a clear product-market fit in key segments of the plastics industry.
Following the recently completed capital raise of over SEK 50 million, the company is well-capitalized to accelerate commercialization and expand its technology globally, in close collaboration with customers in packaging, industrial plastic components, and advanced material applications. Simultaneously, increased volatility in global raw material and supply chains reinforces the need for solutions that enable more robust and circular material flows. The strengthening of the Board is a natural next step as focus shifts toward global scaling and business commercialization.
Against this background, the Nomination Committee proposes a Board composition with deep experience in international industrial expansion, commercialization of technology-based products, and strategic advisory and transformation in global operations.
Roland Kasper
Roland Kasper has extensive experience in international industrial operations. For ten years, he served as CEO and President of the listed ventilation company Systemair, where he led the company through a period of strong international expansion and improved profitability.
He further possesses extensive experience in international industrial operations and board work in global organizations. He is also proposed as a board member of the industrial group AQ Group, a global manufacturing partner to leading industrial companies and a player with a strong position in several of Nexam’s relevant application areas.
His experience in leading international industrial companies, driving global expansion, and developing profitable industrial platforms adds vital expertise to Nexam’s Board during a phase focused on scaling and international commercialization.
Niclas Ekström
Niclas Ekström has extensive experience in international business development and the commercialization of technology-based industrial products. For many years, he held leading roles at Tetra Pak, working in several international markets with responsibility for product strategy, business development, and global market expansion.
He also has operational experience from the plastics industry through roles at Växjö Plast, focusing on the development, industrialization, and commercialization of plastic-based products and solutions.
Through his background in global market development and industry-adjacent plastic applications, he brings essential competence to Nexam’s continued work in expanding the company’s technology internationally.
Johan Lundgren
Johan Lundgren has long experience in strategic advisory, transformation, and corporate development in global organizations. He spent over 30 years at the management consulting firm Bain & Company, where he worked on strategic transformations, growth strategies, and organizational development for international companies across a wide range of industries.
Following his operational consulting career, he has continued as an Advisory Partner at Bain & Company and is currently a Senior Advisor at Alvarez & Marsal, a global advisory firm specialized in transformation and value creation in complex corporate situations.
Johan also has extensive board experience and is currently a board member of Citira, active in circular material solutions for tires, and Chairman of the Board of Viken Group.
His experience in strategy, transformation, and value creation in international companies adds valuable expertise to Nexam’s Board during its global technology scale-up phase.
Comments from the Chair
Chair of the Board, Cecilia Jinert Johansson, comments:
“Nexam Chemical has spent several years building a unique technology platform to enable truly circular plastic materials. Today, we see how Reactive Recycling™ creates clear value in industrial production and how an increasing number of customers are integrating the technology into their processes.
As the plastics industry accelerates its transition toward circular material flows, Nexam’s technology is positioned at the heart of this transformation. With the capital raise completed around the turn of the year, we have also strengthened our ability to scale commercialization globally.
Kasper, Ekström and Lundgren together represent deep industrial experience, global commercialization, and strategic transformation in international companies. I am very pleased that they have accepted the invitation to contribute to Nexam’s continued development and the global commercialization of Reactive Recycling™.”
