Nexam Chemical receives first trial order of NEXAMITE® for multifunctional masterbatch from KWI Polymers

Nexam Chemical will deliver an initial order of NEXAMITE® for production of multifunctional masterbatch to KWI Polymers in Canada. The order value amounts to approximately SEK 250 thousand. The two companies have together developed this multifunctional masterbatch product and have now reached a breakthrough. The masterbatch will be used for production of polyethylene pipes.
”Nexam Chemical has been working in parallel with polyethylene and masterbatch producers within the pipe segment. The collaboration with KWI Polymers, a provider of polymer solutions, has been very productive. We have now reached a breakthrough in our joint work, which means that we go from development into a commercial multifunctional masterbatch product, targeting pipe converters. In the next step we prepare for volume production in North America and to create a platform for growth,” says Erik Lager, CTO at Nexam Chemical.
”There is a desire to strengthen the properties of pipes and thereby enable a greater involvement of recycled materials. The tests we have conducted show clear reinforcement of process and pipe properties when adding the NEXAMITE® product designed for polyethylene,” says Yves Laroche at KWI Polymers in Canada. ”The combination of NEXAMITE® with KWI Nano Carbon reinforcement in a masterbatch, offer not only ultimate mechanical properties, but it also opens new opportunities by obtaining new physical properties behavior of the material. NEXAMITE® contributes to enhance processability during extrusion and the properties in the final pipe. The development activities together with KWI Polymers will continue and the combination of NEXAMITE® and KWI Nano Carbon will be tested also in other polymers and applications.
